About the Role
We need a backend engineer who can own the core API layer and AI service layer of a production platform built on .NET 10 and Python 3. You’ll be the person responsible for system integrity, API design, and making sure the architecture holds up as the product grows. Small team, high trust, high output expected.
What You’ll Do
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs in ASP.NET Core on .NET 10 with OpenAPI 3 documentation
- Own the AI orchestration service built in FastAPI / Python 3 (LLM integration, prompt engineering, async job handling)
- Work within an AWS-based infrastructure: EC2 private subnet, ECR, Systems Manager Run-Command
- Manage Docker and Docker Compose v2 service configurations
- Maintain and improve 11 active GitHub Actions workflows — CI/CD hygiene matters here
- Design for correctness, security, and maintainability — this is not a fix-it-later team
What We’re Looking For
- 6+ years backend experience, with deep C# / .NET proficiency (ideally .NET 6+, .NET 10 is a plus)
- Python competency — FastAPI experience or ability to move quickly in it
- Solid grasp of RESTful API design and OpenAPI spec documentation
- AWS working knowledge: EC2, ECR, IAM, VPC fundamentals
- Comfortable with Docker, container orchestration at the Compose level
- Experience owning infrastructure decisions on small teams — you don’t need a DevOps team to babysit you
Nice to Have
- Health tech, clinical data, or HIPAA-regulated environment experience
- Experience integrating LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) into production systems
- Familiarity with nginx reverse proxy configuration
- Prior work on a product in the MVP-to-scale phase
