We partner with high-growth companies to build elite, autonomous teams that deliver results at startup velocity—combining deep technical skill with excellent communication and ownership.

About the Client

Our client is redefining how real estate professionals operate. Their AI-powered platform automates the communication and coordination layer for brokers, agents, and service providers—handling lead engagement, scheduling, and client communication across SMS, email, voice, and chat.
With a foundation in vector search, NLP, and deep third-party integrations, the platform enables intelligent automation that’s transforming an industry long overdue for change.

They’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer to take full ownership of their integration. ecosystem—leading the design and evolution of the systems that connect the platform to the world.

The Role

As the Staff Software Engineer for Integrations, you’ll serve as the technical authority on how our platform interfaces with external APIs and AI services. You’ll define architecture, lead design reviews, set integration standards, and work hands-on to ensure scalability, resilience, and performance across dozens of mission-critical connections. Not a narrow coding role — it’s a position for someone who thrives in complexity, enjoys designing scalable systems, and communicates clearly across engineering, AI, and product teams.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the architecture and evolution of the integrations layer connecting AI models, comms APIs, and document intelligence tools
  • Define engineering standards, patterns, and best practices for all API and service integrations
  • Design and implement resilient, scalable, and secure systems within a Ruby on Rails (API-only) environment
  • Build and maintain fault-tolerant background processing pipelines using Sidekiq and Sidekiq-Cron
  • Establish robust monitoring, observability, and incident response practices for integration reliability
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with AI, infrastructure, and product teams to deliver integration-first capabilities
  • Mentor engineers and help shape a culture of technical excellence and pragmatic problem-solving
  • Anticipate API and platform changes (Twilio, OpenAI, Postmark, Google Vision, etc.) to proactively adapt our integrations
  • Continuously improve system reliability, developer velocity, and data security

What You Bring

  • 7+ years of professional experience in backend or full-stack engineering, with mastery in Ruby on Rails (API-only)
  • Proven success owning and scaling complex API integrations (Twilio, Postmark, Pusher, Google Vision, OpenAI, etc.)
  • Deep understanding of API architecture, resilience patterns, rate limiting, retries, and webhooks
  • Expertise in asynchronous processing (Sidekiq) and distributed system design
  • Experience leading or mentoring other engineers, providing technical direction and code reviews
  • Strong grasp of security, privacy, and compliance considerations in data exchange and external APIs
  • Familiarity or strong interest in AI systems—vector search, OpenAI API, embeddings, and semantic search
  • Disciplined approach to testing, observability, and CI/CD (RSpec, Guard, GitHub Actions, Docker)
  • Exceptional English communication skills—able to explain complex systems clearly and collaborate effectively with global teams
  • Bonus: Experience designing internal SDKs, integration frameworks, or developer platforms

What We Offer

  • Ownership of a key technical domain within a fast-scaling AI company
  • Opportunity to work with cutting-edge AI, NLP, and automation technologies
  • Competitive compensation (USD)
  • PTO, paid holidays, and family leave
  • Paid learning and sponsored certifications
  • Fully remote, async-first environment
  • Office setup allowance + computer sponsorship
  • A culture of autonomy, technical excellence, and trust
