SkilldLabs vs Turing

Turing matches from a global pool using automated assessment. We screen a smaller number of people by hand, in Latin America only, against the specific role you are filling. The facts on both sides are below.

No upfront payment. No minimum contract. No exclusivity.

Turing figures are taken from their own published pages, linked at the bottom of this page. If anything here is out of date, tell us and we will correct it Re-verified on 5 August 2026. Re-verified on 5 August 2026.

Note, August 2026. Turing’s primary business is now supplying training data, reinforcement-learning environments and evaluation work to frontier AI labs. Its marketing site leads with that, not with developer hiring. The developer marketplace still operates, but it is no longer the company’s main line, so if you are hiring an engineer to join your own team you are now a secondary customer there.

How each model works

SkilldLabs

  • We maintain a curated network of 3,000+ pre-vetted engineers, and run a five-gate screen against your specific role on top of that.
  • Five gates, run by people: identity and cross-reference check, English written and spoken, a review of work actually shipped, a technical screen by a senior engineer in the same stack, and reference calls we place ourselves.
  • Between 5% and 10% of applicants finish all five gates. The process is published in full, including what disqualifies a candidate.
  • Latin America only, so every engineer works US business hours.
  • 75% of the engineers we have placed are approaching the 18-month mark with their team.
  • Payroll, benefits and local compliance handled. No upfront payment, no minimum contract, no exclusivity.
  • If the fit is wrong we replace at no additional cost, typically within 5 to 10 business days.

Turing

  • Sources from a global pool spanning most time zones.
  • Assessment is automated: a work-experience survey scored by AI, a tech-stack quiz, then a coding challenge covering languages, data structures, algorithms and system design.
  • States the process is designed to select the top 1% of remote developers.
  • Matches in 3–5 business days using its Intelligent Talent Cloud.
  • Two-week risk-free trial. If the match is wrong inside that window you can request a rematch without being billed.
  • Zero upfront recruiting or platform fees. Rates are quoted, not published.
  • Payroll and compliance handled. No long-term commitment required.

Automated assessment, or a peer screen

Turing’s assessment runs without a human in the loop: a survey scored by AI, a quiz matched to the stack, and a coding challenge. That is what makes 3–5 business days possible across a global pool.

Our fourth gate is a live technical screen run by a senior engineer working in the same stack as the role, and our first gate is a cross-reference check on work the candidate says they shipped. Scored tests and peer interviews surface different things — a test measures whether someone solves a bounded problem; a peer screen probes architectural reasoning and whether the work on the CV is really theirs.

Geography is the other structural difference. Turing places worldwide, so overlap with your working day depends on where the match happens to live. We place in Latin America only, so US business-hours overlap is fixed rather than variable.

On risk: Turing offers a two-week trial with no billing if you request a rematch. We do not run a trial period; we replace a wrong fit at no cost, typically within 5–10 business days, with no minimum contract. Both are stated in the table above.

“SkilldLabs has been an incredible partner. They helped us scale quickly with exceptional Engineering talent… quality and the ease of collaboration have made a real impact.”

Common questions

Which is cheaper?

We publish indicative ranges by role and level at skilldlabs.com/rates. Turing does not publish a rate card. We quote 49–54% below equivalent US rates; Turing does not publish a comparable figure. Ask both of us to quote the same requirement.

Does Turing place engineers in Latin America?

Yes, among many other regions. LatAm is all we do, so timezone alignment is structural for us rather than dependent on where a given match lives.

Is an automated screen different from a human one?

Yes. Automated assessment is more consistent and scales further. A peer screen probes architectural reasoning and verifies claimed work. They catch different failures.

Do you offer a trial?

We do not run a trial period. We replace a wrong fit at no cost, typically within 5–10 business days, and there is no minimum contract, so you can stop at any point.

Want the engineers who finish?

Tell us the role and we will show you who cleared all five gates. No upfront payment, and if the fit is wrong we replace them at no cost.
